1. PREAMBLE
The ALC English Olympiad (the “Event”) is an academic competition organized by the American Language Center (ALC), Nepal. By registering for the Event via https://alc-english-olympiad.alc.edu.np/, participants (and their legal guardians, if the participant is a minor) agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY AND TRADEMARKS
- ALC Proprietary Rights: The name “American Language Center,” “ALC,” the ALC logo, and all competition materials are the exclusive intellectual property of ALC.
- TOEFL® Protection: “TOEFL” and “TOEFL iBT” are registered trademarks of Educational Testing Service (ETS). ALC acknowledges and respects these trademarks. Any use of the TOEFL name in relation to this Olympiad is intended to signify assessment standards and is used under appropriate professional partnership guidelines.
- Secured Status: Both ALC and TOEFL identifiers are secured and protected. Participants or third parties are strictly prohibited from using these logos or branding for any commercial purpose without express written consent.
3. ELIGIBILITY
- Participants must meet the grade/level requirements specified on the registration portal.
- ALC reserves the right to request proof of school enrollment. Any fraudulent information will lead to immediate disqualification without a refund.
4. WINNER DETERMINATION AND JUDGING CRITERIA
- Scoring & Time: Winners are determined based on their total score. In the event of a tie in scores, the completion time (the time taken to submit the assessment) will be used as the deciding factor. The participant who achieves the score in the shortest amount of time will be ranked higher.
- Fairness and Transparency: ALC is committed to a fair, impartial, and transparent evaluation process. All assessments are graded using standardized protocols to ensure every participant is judged on an equal playing field.
- Finality of Decision: The decision of the ALC Organizing Committee and the judging panel is final, conclusive, and binding.
- No Challenges: Results cannot be challenged, appealed, or contested in any forum. By participating, you waive any right to dispute the scores or the selection of winners.
5. CODE OF CONDUCT & INTEGRITY
- Academic Integrity: Any form of cheating, use of AI tools, or external assistance will result in immediate disqualification and a permanent ban from future ALC events.
- Technical Responsibility: For online rounds, participants are responsible for their own internet stability. ALC is not liable for scores affected by local technical failures.
6. PRIVACY AND MEDIA CONSENT
- Data Usage: ALC collects participant data solely for the administration of the Olympiad.
- Media Release: By participating, you grant ALC the right to use photographs, video footage, and names of winners for promotional and press purposes.
7. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
ALC shall not be liable for any delays, changes in schedule, or cancellations caused by “Force Majeure” events (e.g., natural disasters, government restrictions, or nationwide outages).
8. GOVERNING LAW
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Nepal. Any legal disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kathmandu.
