What is the Upskill Exam?

Upskill is an English test made by Cambridge. It uses AI to check 4 skills: Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing. In Nepal, only CIIN International Qualifications can give you this exam.

Does passing the exam guarantee I get the job?

No. Passing the exam is just one requirement. After that, the government reviews your application, runs a background check, and holds a lottery. ALC has no role in this part.

Is ALC or CIIN involved in visa or job placement for this program?

No. Only the government handles selection. No agency, consultancy, or private company is part of that process.

What is the Cambridge Upskill exam?

Is ALC the exam center, or does ALC just prepare me?

ALC only prepares you. CIIN gives the actual exam and issues the certificate. We’re two separate organizations.

What does the exam test, and how long does it take?

4 parts: Speaking (12 min), Listening (25 min), Reading (25 min), Writing (30 min). About 92 minutes total. You can finish it in one day or spread it across 5 days.

How much does the official CIIN exam cost?

The exam fee is NPR 5,000. You pay this directly to CIIN — it’s separate from ALC’s course fee.

How much does the ALC preparation course cost?

No. We check your level for free first, then build your course around what you need to improve.

What’s the ALC mock speaking test, and how accurate is it?

A practice speaking test in the same format as the real exam. It won’t replace your official result, but it gives you a realistic predicted score and clear feedback before exam day.

Is ALC or CIIN involved in visa processing, recruitment, or job placement?

No. ALC only teaches English. CIIN only gives the exam. Any government job selection is handled only by the government.

How do I book my official CIIN exam once I’m ready?

Book directly with CIIN through ciin.org.np/upskill , or call 01-4117104 / 01-4117105. ALC doesn’t book the exam for you, but we’ll walk you through it.

What if I don’t pass on my first attempt?

You can retake the CIIN exam for a new NPR 5,000 fee. Ask us about a short top-up class to fix just the skill you struggled with, instead of repeating the full course.
